What to expect from your Newborn Session

When scheduling, it is very important to have the shoot within the first 14 days of life. During the first 14 days, babies are more curled up and sleepy easily while being moved around. Setting up a tentative date 2 months before your due date is recommended to assure your spot on my calendar. If baby decides to come early or late, contact me ASAP and we will adjust your session date. It’s recommended that young siblings only stay for a short time if possible, It’s important that we have a calm and relaxing environment for a baby, and sometimes the studio is a challenging place for toddlers for a long time. Newborn sessions are done ONLY on weekdays (Tuesdays and Thursdays) starting at 10 am each day.

  • Your newborn session will be done at my home-based studio located in Coquitlam. I do not travel to clients home.
  • Your session can last from 2-3 hours. In 99% I am done within 2 hours, but there is always that 1%.  Most of the images will be done when your baby is in a deep sleep. To encourage this, I recommend that you do whatever it takes to make sure your baby is nice and exhausted.
  • Please feed and burp baby right before our session to ensure a happy, sleepy (milk drunk) baby. We will also have as many breaks as needed to help him/her refuel.
  • Props: I have a huge collection of baskets, beds, blankets, knit hats, flower bonnets, headbands, wraps and backdrops that we can use for your session. Please let me know if you plan to bring a prop. There are props that I like to stay away from because they may not be safe or will not photograph well, which interrupts the creative progress. I encourage parents to just come with a sleepy baby, Keepsake items like a quilt, knitted hat or small plush toy are great.
  • Maximum 2 weeks to process your photos from the time of the session.
  • You will get 6-25 images (depending on your package choice) edited and retouched images
